FAQ

The county building is closed, how do I conduct county business?

Members of the public are encouraged to use telephone or other electronic communications to contact County offices. The County will take all necessary steps to assist in providing options for the public to deliver documents and address other matters that require in-person processing.  See this page for up to date information regarding county hours and operations: https://shoshonecounty.id.gov/coronavirus-covid-19-information/

City offices are closed, how do I conduct city business?

Call the city office listed above for more information regarding city information.  Make sure to leave a message if there is no answer. 

Can I still get a building permit?

Most cities are processing building permits.  The county is also still allowing business to be conducted via phone.  Call the entity in question and they’ll provide you with information. 

Are cities still holding council meetings?

Some cities are cancelling/postponing and others are making accomodations to have conference meetings.  Visit your city’s website or contact the city clerk via phone or email to learn more about your city council meetings.

Will we be able to vote in the next election?

The county is encouraging all residents to register for Absentee Voting for the Primary Election.  You can request your ballot by going to: https://idahovotes.gov/vote-early-idaho/

Veteran Resources

Below are some great programs that can be used by local Veterans.   Let us know if we are missing any information.  

Wallace Elks Veterans Program

  • The Wallace Elks Lodge Veterans Program is working with several community restaurants to provide one free meal a day to local Veterans. They cover tax and tip for the meal as well.  They will provide one gift certificate per Veteran to Harvest Foods in Wallace and they have a limited number of gas cards available if needed.  Items available are leather gloves, socks, sleeping bags, hats, polar fleece jackets with a limited amount of boot sizes combat boots, and toothbrush kits. Restaurants participating in this program are listed below:

    • Blackboard Cafe
    • Mom’s Eatery
    • Cogs
    • Bedroom Goldmine
  • The Wallace Elks also has a limited number of items available to handout to those in need.  Items available are:

Shoshone County Veterans Program

  • The Veterans Service Officer for Shoshone County is a part-time position and acts as an advocate for veterans and their dependents. The Officer provides assistance in obtaining a wide range of entitled veteran benefits. Please contact the VSO at (208) 752-3331 to schedule an appointment, or for information.
